Parkview High School Class of '75 Reunion

Parkview High School Class of ’75 will hold its thirty-fifth reunion Friday, July 30 through Sunday, August 1. The class reunion begins with a Springfield Cardinals Baseball Game on Friday evening, a tour of the “new” Parkview High School on Saturday morning and a get together Saturday Evening. The weekend will wrap up Sunday with a picnic at Fassnight Park.

Get Fit Springfield by Cox Fitness Center North

Free event aims to help Springfield Get Fit

 Springfield residents have a chance to “get fit” for free during Cox Fitness Center North’s “Get Fit Springfield” event.Join Fitness Center staff at 5:30 p.m., Mondays June 21 – Aug. 2, for a variety of fun circuit-type fitness activities including cardio and strength building exercises. These outdoor fitness classes will be held at Cox Fitness Center North, 1423 N. Jefferson in Springfield. Call 269-8882 for more information.
Springfield's America's Got Talent at ICON

Attention Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Rogersville, Willard, Republic and whoever else, if you have talent we want to see it!

For the first time in Springfield, Icon Nightclub, will host, Springfield's version of America's Got Talent!  There will be four preliminary rounds held in the months of August - November in which a first place and runner- up will advance to the finals.  The finals will be held in December.  The preliminary 1st  place winners will win a $300.00 cash prize.  The grand prize winner will win air flight and hotel accommodations to an actual America's Got Talent audition.  

So if you play an instrument, tell jokes, dance, juggle, rap, sing, play spoons or whatever else, here is your chance to show Springfield that you have talent.

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD: July 28th from 7 - 10 p.m. at Icon Nightclub.  Please have prepared a 5 minute routine of some sort and you must also at least 18 to participate.  If you are selected, you will participate in the preliminary first round show.  So I have got to ask, do you have talent?

THE PRELIMINARY FIRST ROUND:  Will be held August 6 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Icon Nightclub.  Doors will open at 7:00 p.m.

Children's Miracle Network to benefit from Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen to donate funds on August 5th from Blizzard Treat sales.  Visit participating Dairy Queen locations on Thursday August 5th, for Miracle Treat Day to benefit Children's Miracle Network, a non profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals.  On that day Dairy Queen will donate $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold to the Children's Miracle Network Hospital in local communities.  Click Here for more information

Night of hilarity to benefit Ozarks Counseling Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Ozarks Counseling Center is excited to announce its16th annual “Not-So-Newlywed Game,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at The Landers Theatre.

A spoof of the 1970s game show, “The Newlywed Game,” this event is the primary fund raising event for Ozarks Counseling Center , which provides counseling to individuals, couples, families and children on a sliding fee scale.

Join this year’s Not-So-Newlywed couples – Ethan and Sara Forhetz, Jerry and Jean Harmison, Matt & Nichole Lemmon, Kevin & Heather Robbins and Dr. Douglas and Dr. Alison Kirar – as Master of Ceremonies Jeff Jenkins tests each individual’s knowledge of his or her spouse with hilarious results.

Tickets are $25 per person. The doors open at 6 p.m. for the silent auction, and the show starts at 7 p.m.

The 6th Annual Matt Turner Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at the Glenwood Country Club.  This tournament will be a 3 person team scramble starting at 8:30 a.m.  The entry fee is $225 per team and includes green fees, cart, refreshments, lunch, t-shirt and a drawing for door prizes.  The first 36 teams to enter will be eligible.  Prizes are paid out in 3 flights.  Prizes will also be awarded for closest to the pin & longest drive.  Each Par 3 will have a hole-in-one prize.  All proceeds go towards the Matt Turner Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The Gateway Christian Church, 3600 W.
